I think I've reached the conclusion that oak barrels don't do much for IPAs. It ads some unneeded harshness and non complimentary flavors it seems like. Save the oak for the stouts and strings brewers!
I agree with the oak typically not helping an IPAI also haven't found a Southern Tier that I enjoy.......
