Saturday night's alright for Gargoyling


I gave in and decided to give barleywines one more try. Picked up a bomber of the new 09 Stone Gaurdian. It was probably my favorite barleywine so far. Pretty aggressively hopped as you might imagine from Stone, but also very malty like a barleywine. It actually tasted pretty close to an east coast double IPA like a 90min. I'm still not sure I'm sold on them, but I'd give it another try sometime. Grade: incomplete but leaning towards a B

I'm with you. My palate is changing a bit, but I still can't fully get into these beers.

You must try the Central Water Bourbon Barleywine. You have to be smoking crack if you don't think this is good.
